Well it’s blog time again. And that means it’s time to get into Dr. Mike’s world and see how he thinks. Now that could be scary for some but for others it could be an adventure.
If you’re new to this blog-welcome. If you’ve been here in the past-welcome back. Either way I want you to scan over the information I have presented so far. Take a look at what I’ve written. You might look at some of the information and issues I wrote about and think “This doesn’t have anything to do with me,” or “That’s stupid. I never think, say or do that.” Don’t move on too quickly. Stop for a minute. Force yourself to think about how this information and issues apply to you. I say that because until you take this information and really do some soul searching inside of you, it just bec omes more words on paper.
As you read my blogs you will see that I take no position taken on issues like war, abortion, euthanasia, the political quarrel of the day or the latest issues that we see or hear about in the news. The reason is that I believe that the formation of good character through ethical choices is a different task from the debate on such issues. I think it’s more important for you to focus on building the basics of good character in your life first and foremost. When you are a person of good character, decisions about the above listed issues will be looked at in a whole different light. And as a refresher to those who have been here before and as a heads up to those that are new, businneses, homes, teams, relationships, families, schools and so forth get better when the people within them choose to get better.
I want you to think about something for a moment. Will using these suggestions in my blogs help you produce better employees, managers, sons, daughters, husbands, or wives? Will they get you a pay raise, have better self-esteem, make you more popular, rich or get a better job? Will you become a better son, daughter, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife? Well, yes. If you take the information contained in these blogs and put them "into action" in your life on a regular basis, I really do think you're life will change. I really think that because of doing this, employees, managers, sons, daughters, husbands and wives around you will be positively affected as well. And it will provide a boost to your own personal self-esteem.
Self-esteem is like the rich soil on a farmer’s land. The rich soil of self-esteem provides for the growth of good character and ethics. Good character and ethics provides a constant source of nourishment that sustains high self-esteem. Now, let’s talk about becoming rich. Will reading these blogs make you rich? Well, rich in knowledge for sure. Rich in money, probably. More people will want to hire you and promote you if you have good character than if you don’t. And that should put a few more coins in your pocket. Think about it, would you want to hire someone who is trustworthy, respectful, responsible, caring and honest? Would you hire someone who shows up on time, does their job even when you’re not watching, and calls in when they are not going to be at work? Would you hire someone who took a stand on issues that affected your bottom line? So does character really count?

You can be more assertive, get more what YOU want out of life.
